1999 Blazer Power Routing Reply
by KC0INZ on July 25, 2001 Mail this to a friend!
I have a 99 Blazer for a company car and wanted to add a VHF/UHF rigm to the Blazer. Does anyone have any ideas on an easy way to get power into the cab. I would prefer not to drill any holes since it's a company car, but could probably get away with a discreet hole where it can't be seen. Are there any usuable holes through the firewall already or a place to pick up power under the dash? Thanks, Ken N0VZ

I have a 96 Blazer and route my power through the passenger door (less opening)between the two hinges. I am using #12 rubber coated wire from the battery. Have never had an issue with crimping or cutting wire.

I've done similar with wiring on my Dodge. I ran it through the passenger side door...I also used some braided cable covering..I'm not sure what it's called exactly, but it's a woven plastic type fiber braid that expands when you push it together and contracts when you pull it...think of a "Chinese Finger Trap"

A bit out of date from orginal question, but on my 92 blazer if you remove the radiator overflow resivour you will find a nice feed through behind it. Run all the cables you need through that point.
