I would like to know if anybody knows where I could get a couple of mikes fixed? They are for a Yaesu FT 2400 2 meter rig. Every thing works just no audio getting out.

Probably a connector issue. Have you tried removing the connector and re-installing it, or using a new one?

I think it is something inside the mike itself. It will transmit but hardly any audio.

Did you try a different mike to confirm the problem is the microphone and not the radio?

Yes I have other mikes that work but the up and down buttons for the different frequencies dont work. Have no way to scan.

Are you referring to mics that normally come with the FT2400? It sounds like you have more than one mic that you suspect are bad. Are they both the same? If so, I'd suspect the radio, not the mics. If they are not the original mics for that rig, I'd look at the deviation (or mic gain) on the radio or at possible impedance mismatches between the mic and the radio.
Can you provide some more info on the mics in question?

I have 2 2400s and both original mikes have the same problem. Bought a mike from MFJ whick works fine as far as audio output so my conclusion is that there is a problem with the original mikes

Are you referring to the Yaesu MH-27 mics? If so, see the FT-2400 reviews here on eHam. Here is a quote from one of the reviews:
"Purchased this radio from an ad on the ARRL website. Radio is in good shape. But the voice output is to low. Power output is good, but folks say I sound like I am in the basement.. Removed the little disk in the mic and replaced the RJ-45 but still low output. Seems to come and go. Any ideas on this issue? Using a mh-27 mic."
Also, your mic problem is apparently well documented. See K9EIU's review of the Yaesu MH-27 Microphones on the eHam.net site:

good luck,
Terry, WØFM

Also, contact N4NLQ. His response in the eHam MH-27 reviews uncovers a problem with capacitors in the mics not "staying formed" due to lower voltages. Allan says he has repaired several by simply replacing the caps in them.
Have fun.

Ron,
Forgot to add this. The complete description of Allan's MH27 repair can be found here:
