Hello All! Thank you for all of you help in the past. This new ham appreciates it so very much. I bought a dual bander about 18 months ago and it had this mic hooked up to it. Within the past 2 days the little, black button has become a little reluctant to work. I need to press the button "all over" for it to make contact. In fact, sometimes, pressing the button in the middle, top, bottom, left or right will no nothing. I removed the little Phillips screw and attempted to remove the button and element from the mic "tube" but it won't screw out or pull out; I don't wish to break this $80.00 mic! I'm currently using my Heil GM-5 on the dual bander in the shack, so I'm still on the air. Any help or suggestion would be most gratefully received. Many thanks for taking the time to respond! Alan

Good luck getting Heil to fix anything, I couln't even get an answer to my e-mail to them. Their workmanship is real crappy and that's probably why you have the problem. Had the same problem with my Mic. I bought from one of their resellers.

I have been dealing with Heil for years and have NEVER had a problem getting questions answered (by phone or email), products serviced or anything else. Their customer support is first-rate. Sorry you had a problem, but your experience is not typical. 73, Lon - W3LK Naugatuck, Connecticut

Hello Everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for your suggestions. I sent off a note to Mr. Heil himself and got a very helpful response from him the same afternoon. I now have a perfectly functioning HM-iC and can put my "GoldLine" GM-4 back with the HF rig. Again, many thanks for this wonderful website! Alan

if you have a Icom HM36 hand mic take the ICM element out of the heil mic and install it in the HM36,the elements look the same but the ICM element drives the radio and sounds a lot better,i changed mine and it works great,ive gotten a LOT of quality audio reports with it 73s Larry
