i have this horrible static that starts about 7mhz and goes the rest of the way up the hf range.i never had this problem until we moved.
well i finally got tired of it and killed the power in my radio room.still s-9 noise.finally got out my scanner(simple but effective)and went around the house.all the light switches give the same noise.then i went outside to the main panel going to the house...oh my lord...the noise was terrible there, worse than anywhere else.
my question is does this sound like the power company at fault or something my landlord and i will have to deal with?
thanks

Pull the main breaker. If the noise is still there then its coming from the power company side. If not then its being generated on your side of the meter.

i shut down the main and the noise is still there.
got out the trusty scanner again and got within 10 feet of the offending pole and with no antenna it's just as loud.
i called the power company tonight and told them,i was told they would fix it in 1 to 3 days.
now we just wait and see.
also as i've read in other posts i didn't tell the it was comming through my reciever,i just said it was gomming through my dish and all sorts of other stuff.
thanks again
