Have read the posts on RFI from furnaces; however, I am plagued by noise from the heat pump compressor. When it is running it radiates noise similiar to loud ignition noise popping on 75 meters. I've isolated it to the heat pump motor but installing RF chokes on the power leads does not help. It is a Coleman system, a little over a year old. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you contacted the manufacturer. I had a lot of noise from my new furnace and the manufacturer had a kit which reduced it substantially. If the installer won't help you then get the name of the manufacturers representative and call them directly. A little hint you might get the FCC involved may help.

Check the motor connections inside the unit. I would also check the start capacitor you could have a bad connection there. I would contact the manufacturer and tell them that it is causing a problem. You might have a motor going south. There are two motors the compressor and the coil fan. Good luck. 73 Paul
