Need RFI Information Reply
by KJ4BDR on March 1, 2008 Mail this to a friend!
I saw in an RFI post that the FCC has a information packet about RFI and how to deal with complaints.
I have a cable company that is causing trouble telling me that I am causing RFI. I have done everything I can to filter out the problem. No luck.
It only happens on 75 meters and with Very low power.
I think there cable boxes are clocked at 3.5 MHz. Anyway I saw an address to get the information, but can't find it now. Anybody help please. Thanks

Sounds like a an open cable connection. Track it down and file a complaint with them!

Gary,

Gladto hear that you found your information. I hope you had the oportunity to read it thoroughly yourself, as it will make your life easier.

Basically, if you have a clean signal, the cable company is just trying to shift the blame. From the low power and low frequency, I would guess that this is a fault of the cable system.

By the way 3.580 MHz is the color burst frequency and very often the descramble clock for analog cable systems. If there is back haul (internet) on the cable the cable system can propagate signals that include this frequency.

Look at the responsibilities, though. It is their dragon to slay.

If your're an ARRL member, contact their RFI guy. I had some RFI problems and they helped me with them.

ARRL bashers..no need to reply.
