Invisible Dog Fences - Model ICT 801 Xmtr Reply

Recently installed one of these over 3 acres of my property. It generated significant pulsing noise on 160m and the upper portion of 80m. The fence xmtr and feedline point is very close to one of my Beverage antennas, which also runs across a good portion of the fenced area. I had discussed this potential problem with my local Invisible Fence installer prior to purchase. He contacted the factory engineers who have a service bulletin on this RFI problem. They supplied a free Corcom 10VK6 filter (readily available from a number of sources) which solved the problem immediately. I also added a Mix 77 ferrite toroid (w/22 turns of wire) in series with each leg of the underground loop. No detectable noise on any band anymore.

Which makes ya wonder....

Why the hell did the manufacturer NOT include this fix as a part of the basic internal unit itself?

The answer of course, I guess, is that by making us ASK for the fix they make more money when they dont have to include somethig that the vast majority will not need.

WELL at least they HAVE a fix!

I have a guy across the street from me who has an Invisible fence on running the perimeter of his 3/4 acre property. I guess I have been lucky as there is not any noticeable QRM on the low bands or on 20 meters & above.

Thanks for posting the cure to the problem though. Its good knowing how to solve the issue should it ever arrise.

"They supplied a free Corcom 10VK6 filter "

shouldn't that be a 10V*K9* filter, seeing that it is for "filtering" the dogs on the fence line?
