Does anyone have a link on how to set up the VX-7R for AO-51? Even a quick walk through would work. Thanks in advance!!

The manual has everything you need.
Program a split memory. 435.310 for the downlink, set a tone of 67.0Hz, and set 145.920 for the uplink (again by using the manual's instructions). Once the memory channel has been setup, go to it and press and hold the V/M button. The "MR" beside the frequency becomes "MT" and now you can tune away from the programmed RX frequency to compensate for doppler shift.
It does work, I use it this way myself.

But make sure that you set the PL tone of 67.0 for the 2 meter side. Setting it for the UHF side may leave a different tone set up for 2 meters. I have heard AO51 on the stock rubber duck with the VX7R on a high elevation pass, but wasn't able to get into it. Still an amazing HT-and the best one on the market in my opinion.

Doppler shift: you could program for it in memories, give them meaningful names and keep is simple.
Antenna: I recommend getting an Arrow II antenna, but you may be able to get in with a Comet 24SMA or such.
Schedule: check the AO-51's schedule on www.amsat.org as there are times it is not set up for V/U mode.
CU on the sat, I'm looking for district 7 contacts.

I will make a contact with you from here in district 7 if you want. Go ahead and send me an e-mail, ke7eyq AT gmail DOT com. Unfortunately something is not working correctly with my the uplink on my HT right now and I need to get it all sorted out, but I will be more than willing to try to give you district 7, Washington state.
