How do I remove NOAA 18 from Satscape favorites Reply
by K7NHB on June 22, 2008 Mail this to a friend!
I'm setting up Satscape and it seemed to come with two satellites already marked as favorites. Not knowing this, I marked AO 51, AO27 and SO 50. When I asked to predict favorites there were five satellites in the list. I was able to find one in the general list and uncheck its Favorites designation. But I have not found NOAA 18 to uncheck it too. I've looked in the weather group and it only goes up to NOAA 17.

Can NOAA 18 be removed so I only get the prediction of the ones I marked as favorites? If so, how?

Thank you and 73,
Paul

I am using the regular version of SatScape. You should be able to remove it from the Wx Satellite pane. Are you using the Java version? There maybe something different in it from the regular version.

Best thing to do is send an e-mail to Scott Hather and ask why this is happening.

Good luck and 73 DE Bert.

Thank you for your reply. It is the Java version and I did look in the weather satellite pane. I saw listing up to NOAA 17 but not NOAA 18 - assuming we are talking about the same place.

I looked all around for Scott's contact info but didn't see it on the web page.

I'll check all sources again.

Look in the Amateur satellites section. I had the same problem, but I found it in there, then unselected it.

Good luck.

I checked the Amateur section and only AO-51, AO-27, SO-50 were checked. No NOAA-18. I didn't find it in the Weather Group. I saw the "Visible" group was checked (Plus sign) and looked in there. Nada.

Where could this NOAA-18 be???

I couldn't find a contact email for the author on his web page. I thought about editing the database files but WinXP doesn't know what to use to open them.

I tried to search the Forum and the browser threw an SQL error. I did see a post where someone was trying to remove two other Favorites they hadn't checked - and found them in the Amateur section.

Anyone have an email address for the Author? I can ask him.

73,
Paul

Paul:

I think the problem lies in that the Java version is a "work in progress." I have used the original version of SatScape for about 5-6 years and remember readin a ocuple of years ago about Scott teaching himself Java in order to write the next generation version.

In the SatScape site there is a Bug Tracker link at the top of the page that is moderated by someone familar with the software. I suggest you post the question there.

I experimented with the Java version some months ago and I did not like it because it made me feel like I was not in control of the software and of the satellite I wanted to see. I presume that there are bugs in it.

Good luck DE Bert @ KA2UUP
