Apollo special event on AO-51 Reply

AMSAT-NA will mark the 40th anniversary of the first manned lunar landing with a special event on AO-51. AO-51 will transmit a message commemorating the event Monday, July 20 during evening passes in the U.S. and Europe. The message will be transmitted on the 435.300 MHz FM downlink and will contain a Robot 36 SSTV image as well as a voice message. A special AO-51 QSL will be available to those who copy the downlink. Send QSL requests marked "Apollo 11" with SASE to the AMSAT office at 850 Sligo Ave. Suite 600, Silver Spring, MD 20910.

E-mail ko4ma@amsat.org with questions.

73, Drew KO4MA
AMSAT-NA VP Operations

It took two passes but I got the message! I had a little trouble copying the first half of the message. The Robot 36 SSTV transmission was very cool as well! My QSL/SASE will be in the mail first thing Tuesday morning.

I was able to copy the evening pass. I used my FT-817, Signalink USB, MMSSTV, laptop, and arrow antenna.

I copied the pictures and recorded the pass using MMSSTV. I found the audio converter application to convert the audio into a common format.

I plan on making a video. I can re-play the sound file within MMSSTV and receive the pictures just like the pass. I can then record the MMSSTV window as a video file. I'll then edit this all together along with some other Apollo videos that I have grabbed.

I may have time this weekend to edit all this together. Keep a look out on my youtube page.

No one has. The cards aren't in from the printer yet.
