I have a THF6 kenwood HT and was wandering if this would be a good am sat radio with the arrow antenna. Does anyone have any experience with this setup. After being disgusted with local know-it-alls on 2m for the last three years, I hope this will bring the "bug" back.

Absolutely! Although the TH-F6a is not a true "full duplex" rig (you cannot RX anything when keying the mic), you can certainly program the unit to easily work the FM birds with that antenna! Here's a 4-page tutorial to refresh you ... http://www.k6lcs.com Clint Bradford, K6LCS 909-241-7666

It defintely will work just fine. I borrowed one for a while and used it to work the fm satellites. I'm glad to hear you are branching out and finding out the exciting things you can do with your license. I think I would tire of ham radio rather quickly if all I had were the local FM repeaters. I just re-read your title ... You can work the FM sats with a TH-F6a. The radio does not transmit in AM mode.

I kinda think "am sat radio" stands for "Amateur Satellite Radio"........at least to me??
