I hope someone recognizes this tower. I want to clearly understand the Make/Model/Specs, before I start the effort to raise it. - I picked up a simple guyed tower from another ham that was clearing out the equipment of a SK. - It is 35' (Three 10' sections + one 5' section (seems to be a 10' section cut short)) - It is hinged on two legs - From the picture you can see the steps are stamped from thick sheet metal (not the z-shaped trusses I am used to with modern towers). - There are 8 steps in each 10' section; Each step is 14.5 from the last step - Each section connects to the next with two bolt/nuts for each leg - Each leg is 11.5" center to center - Each leg appears to be 1" OD and 7/8" ID - The top two images are of the base that allows the tower to hinge on two legs - The middle two images is of tower base with hinge; then a picture of the steps/bracing - The bottom two images are the thrust bearing plate, and the rotor plate here is a compilation of images mentioned above: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44263052@N02/4070944695/ Thanks so much for any feedback

Stephen, I believe what you have is Rohn 6. I have some of this myself. I use it for a short tower for local V/UHF work. It is compatible with most Rohn 25 accesories, but not with Rohn 25 tower sections; there is about 1/4" difference in the leg spacing.

WA9AFM, Thanks so much for the info. Do you happen to have any info or specs related to it? I have done some searching and "Rohn 6" or "Rohn #6" and variations of that, and there is not much at all out there. How long ago do you think Rohn #6 was being sold? Thanks for the feedback.

And he claims to be married. She must be incredibly tolerant. Or maybe just takes the kids and visits her mother well before each VHF QSO party.

I bought the tower in 1973 and it was old then. I believe Rohn manufactured #6 in the early/mid 60's. Except of the the sides being about 1/4" wider and the 'ladder' braces, all other spec's are identical to Rohn 25.
