Source for guy wire markers? Reply

Does anyone know a RETAIL source for those yellow or orange guy wire markers. I'm thinking of those plastic covers, maybe 5 or 6 feet long that wrap around the wire for visibility.

The first item returned from google for a search on "guy wire markers":

aa4pb....... " Does anyone know a RETAIL source"......

I think this is a toughy, the retail part. What I would do:
BY 10 foot lenghts of white 3/4 inch or 1/2 inch PVC, what a buck and a half each, and a can of neon (pick your color) spray paint and "Roll your own", cut them to fit if too long . I dont see how anything else would be cheaper nor more durable.

hmmmmm..... well, I guess you would have to put them on before you anchor the wire ......

Check at Graybar. Power poles often have guy wires as well. The folks at Graybar are just as happy to take cash from the amateur as from the professional.

What about surveyor's flagging tape at Ace or Home Depot? Phil

Surveyor's flagging weathers rather quickly: certainly
it is hard to find in the woods a year later. (It also
gets eaten by deer, though I doubt it is very good for
them.)

I'd look for some scraps of orange plastic gas pipe, or
thin-wall PVC pipe sprayed with bright paint colors. If
you slice the pipe on a spiral down the length you can
twist it onto the guy wire after it has been tensioned
without having to loosen it.

For bump protection, the lengths of foam pipe insulation
seem to work well - perhaps cover it with a wrapping of
orange electrical tape? I don't think it takes paint
very well, but you might find some that does.

How about bright orange smurf tube...fiber-optic duct? It would be tough to miss.

Split it so it will fit over the guy wire, punch holes in the smurf-tube and then tie-wrap it to the guy wire through these holes.
