Beam mounting distance Reply
by W3UTD on April 6, 2005 Mail this to a friend!
I'm setting up a tripod mount and mast for hilltopping. I have room for a small 6m yagi, 2m and 432Mhz beams.

Unless someone tells me better, I'll have 6m on the bottom, then 2m then 432Mhz on the top. The mast will be about 16' tall.

What is the minimum mounting distance suggested between these three antennas?

Three feet will do. You only need 6' of mast (above the rotor) to space out these three beams with minimum interaction, unless they're very long-boom antennas.

You didn't discuss boom lengths, but if I surmise maybe 5-6L on 6m, 10-13L on 2m, 11-21L on 70cm, those are relatively short boom antennas, probably in the 12' to 18' long range.

If they're longer, wider spacing helps.

"above the rotor"!!! That'll be my arm!

Anyway, that sounds easy to accomplish, thanks for the repsonse.
