I found this radio while cleaning out my closet.
I forgot I even had it. After putting in new
batteries, I found that it doesn't work properly.
When I push the ON button, I get a flashing "E"
and no reception.
Can any B65 owners help me with this? I read the
reviews on EHam and it got great reviews. Before
I get an Icom R75 I'd like to get familiar with
the various bands before making the jump to a
more sophisticated receiver.

That's another of those radios I have never knowingly laid eyes on, Pete.
But taking a fairly well educated guess, the E is almost certainly an E for Error. Since it's been in storage for some time the E probably indicates the phase lock loop is out of lock.
If you can put the thing on an external power source and let it set and spin its wheels for a week or so it may dry out enough to go back into lock on power up. If not, you need to find someone with the service data and test equipment needed to bring it back to life. Or a dumpster, depending on how much money you have in it and how you feel about it.
Good Luck and best regards

Thanks, Pete...I think I'll just order the R75
that I've been putting off. I don't have
a power source for the Panasonic.

Hi-
Do you still have that Panasonic RF-B65? I found one on eBay with the exact same problem. I believe they need a microprocessor reset, which clears all registers, by locating a tiny pinhole that has a PC switch underneath. Let me know what you found.
Thanks, Mike N6XZH

Hello, I have come across a RF-B65 and have the "E" problem too. This was given to me. Would love it to work. I opened it up and saw nothing that looked bad. No reset button found. No other lithium or memory battery. So I was wondering if you came up with any answers to the E problem. Thanks so much, Eric Schreiber, ki6ibs
