MARS and RACES Reply

Although I'm a retired Army MARS
member, I try to keep current on
what is going on.

One thing I've noticed is a trend to
get into emergency communications beyond
DOD.

Has any one heard of any actual or
contemplated plans to have MARS use
3997 kHz USB or 53.30 MHz FM to
intercommunicate with RACES stations
for matters that require coordination
with the military?

Down here we only use 53.30 to talk to
the NCArNG. Of course, that is the
main military we talk with during emergencies.

If MARS wants a link to the hams to
intercommunicate during emergencies, it
would seem to be the way to go.
