Military Communications Trailer? Reply
by KA3OAZ on February 27, 2001 Mail this to a friend!
Does anyone know what club has or uses a Military Comms. Trailer (I think it was a M390)that they use for field day? I had the web site in my bookmarks but I lost my bookmarks. Any help or pictures would be great.

Thanks
John

Can't remember the URL, but I know that the ARES/RACES group NNARS here in Reno, NV is working on converting a donated military comms trailer (the kind you lower into a pickup bed) for EMCOMM use.

I think there is a link from http://wadg.greatbasin.net

I have one of these in my back yard. I'm converting it over to my "contest" hamshack. But I suppose that a pickup truck could move it in a pinch- it's VERY heavy. I used a flatbed trailer to move it to my home from Atlanta, GA. and pulled it with my big Chevy van with V8 engine. It was a strain ALL the way home! I've heard they can take a mortar shell.....(don't know if that's true or not!). Photos on request. E-mail to

If you could post those photos at my site:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mobilecommpostdesignclub

I'm sure others would like to see this heavy duty comm center of yours.

If you prefer not to post them, give me shout at mcpdesignclub@yahoo.com . I would like to see them.

Thanks

Here is what we use in the Coast Guard, it's not available for ham use/contesting but I thought some might be interested in seeing what it looks like.
