Chester (Gump) Gardner (N3GZE)

June, 2000

Gumpy was a grand soul if there ever was one. I met him on the Ft. McHenry 10-10 net one night and it grew into a wonderful 10+ year friendship. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. Had a great attitude about things, loved his family, the hobby and especially 10-10. He was an avid paper chaser and I believe chapter head of the Ft. McHenry 10-10 group in Baltimore at the time of his untimely departure. He had friends on the radio across the country and literally around the world because of his work in 10-10. His passing has left an empty spot in the hearts and lives of people he touched.
