Larry Campbell (WA7V)
I willl never forget Larry, I met him not too long after his wife of many years had passed away. I bought my first radio (a ICOM IC-245) in the neighboring town (about 45 miles away) and asked the Ham I bought it from if he had any antennas for sale. He told me no but informed me of someone who might just have one and gave me directions to WA7Vs place. Well the first meeting was really something, I was just 17 and knocked on Larrys door and got the harsh responce when he opened it of "what do you want" with a angry tone. After explaining what I wanted and that I was a new ham he was more than willing to help me. This was a start of a great friendship. Most all of my first radios/computers/packet etc was bought from Larry on his self named "Larrys easy payment plan". Larry was quite the trader.
Larry worked hard all his life as a Logger/Cat skinner but had long since retired when I met him. He was needless to say rough on the edges but one of the best men I have ever met.
His wife died of Brain cancer which set him back emotionaly for some time. Cancer later took his life also.
I think in the end Larry turned to Jesus so he could be reunited with his wife whom he had missed so very much (she had been a extra class ham also).
May God Grant you everlasting Peace Larry.
