Andrew Adam Gusack (W7PG)
Andy Gusack, age 96, known throughout the world as W8IV, passed away this past July 26.2002. Andy was a pioneer in Amateur Radio and almost met Marconi, at the New Yorks World Fair, in 1932 I believe. He was also a past President of The Grand Rapids Amateur Radio Association and a current member of the Michigan Amateur Radio Alliance. Andy loved talking on Ham radio, wheather it be voice, cw or digital. He loved Collins Radios, and had one of the most extensive collections around. He used to amaze his visitors by being able to snag a Russian Station, "just like that!".
The one thing that was so special about Andy, was his cheerfulness, and always seeing the positive in everything and everybody. He loved his collie dog and loved to walk him. I am so very pleased to have been able to know him and call him " My Friend". His wife passed away many years ago and is survived by his 5 children and many grandchildren.
As he would always say, " Saloon, my friend, Saloon.

Andy was a great guy! He will live on in our hearts. He was a "Ham For All Seasons".
Andy was also a good friend of Sen. Barry Goldwater.

I feel priviledged to have seen Andy 2 days before he died. I have many fond memories of Andy from the 60's, having visited him in Cutlerville, and watching him "snag" another Russian. He was truly a legend. Jerry K8BPT.
