ON4HX was my mentor and friend. He is the one that told me that I got my license and the call sign on5kq in 1965 at the Ghent club meeting. He was always in a good mood and ready to help. A true elmer. Jean was also a technical advisor for the city's water department. Under his push and help several of us build a transistor receiver. At the time not a simple task. 73 Jean from all of us.

Jean and I lived in the same town, Aalter. He was my CW mentor, and I passed the 13wpm test in a breeze thanks to his lessons. Succes rate of his students was nearly 100%. We are missing his appearance in meetings, on hamfests en on frequency, but we will remember him forever.
