Tiit Praks (ES7RE)
December 7, 1999
I received the news this morning. For those who did not know, N5QQ and myself met ES7RE during our J3A CQWW Phone operation in 1998. During my European travels this summer I stayed with his family, and operated
ES0I during the IOTA contest. He was warm, funny and incredibly personable. To say the least I will miss him.

OM Arvo, and the whole Estonian amateur radio community:
I just received an e-mail from Jari OH2BU, where he informed that our good friend, OM Tiit, ES7RE, President of ERAU, had died yesterday in a car accident in Finland.
I feel really sad about this unfortunate and unexpectable loss of a good friend. It is so unfair... These things always seem to hit you when you least expect them...
After probably hundreds of qsos on the air over the last 25 years, I finally learned to know Tiit personally during his visit to the previous Contest /DX meeting in Helsinki, January 1999. There Tiit and his friend Carsten DL6LAU had a nice and rememberable presentation of their recent Contest/DX trip to J3A as part of the multi-national team. The last contact with Tiit I had only two days ago, when he confirmed his coming also to our next meeting in January 2000. I know Tiit looked very much forward to meeting all the fellow contesters/DXers again, especially his old friends Carsten and Brent W5WW, with whom he shared some very good memories.
I sure wish Tiit's wife and the children all the strength needed to get over the first coming days and weeks. We - Tiit's Contesting/DXing friends here in Finland - share their sorrow and will miss Tiit a lot.
Tiit will always stay in our memories as a true gentleman and a great friend!

I am very disturbed over this sad news about Tiit Praks. I never met him personally but did correspond with him for many many years that I felt like I knew him well! I will miss you old friend.
