Everett Ayers (K0ZYM)

This is a short tribute to my Dad K0ZYM of St. Paul, MN. He got started in ham radio in the early 1960's when I was a teenager. We studird for our licenses together and build several Heathkits together. He bought them, I built them, and we both used them. Dad (and the Heathkits) taught me all that I know about electronics and ham radio. We shared the ham shack and tried to compete with each other in working DX. We talked to each other on the air when he was mobile and I was at home. We went to hamfests together and put up antennas together. He gave me equipment rather than selling it. Our life-long hobby helped to keep us close to each other through the years. All of these memories come back to me as I take the antennas down and sell his equipment. I wish every father and son could have something to keep them close, and then later to give them memories such as our hobby of ham radio. 73, Ron Ayers, K0EEE

K0ZYM gave me my Novice exam back in late 1968. I received my Novice call, WN0YLE, in 1969. I then upgraded to General as WA0YLE and currently hold KN0V. I saw Everett a few years ago at a party for a Hungarian ham. I introduced myself and thanked him again for giving me the exam.
