James R Spicer (KB8OGT)

June 17,2003

I first met Jim during an Operation Care Coffee Stop our club was operating during Labor Day weekend in 1997. Jim, who was sick at the time, had a friend drive him the 18 miles to our site! Here was this cheerful, friendly guy, who just wanted to come out and keep us company for awhile. Jim always showed up around mid-night. That was Jim's way of helping out the best way he could. While he certainly was sick, one would never know it by all the activeties he was involved with, among them, Echo Link, monitored just about all the frequencies a scanner could cover and had a live Web cam showing his very impressive Shack! Jim as a Vietnam Veteran,a retiree of the Post Office. He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl and daughters. We will all miss you Jim. 73 till we meet again.
