Milt Chaffee was a ham and a friend. Very active in VHF,Phone, and especially CW, Milt had a deep vioce that made him a great phone operater. in his role as Section Traffic Manager (STM) in Ct. Milt was on the NTS nets a lot an was very pleasent in person as well as on the air, Very active in the community and in the Southington A.R.C., Milt was also a Member of the A.R.R.L.,A.R.E.S.,Q.C.W.A. and several Civic Originizations as well as a V.E., I remember Milt as a pleasent gentlem, a Ham ,and most of all as a Friend. His loss has had a great impact on the amateur community. Milt will be sorely missed.

I remember Milt from the First Regional Net (1RN) and the Eastern Area Net (EAN) with a big, beautiful signal. His helpfulness was matched by the beautiful tone of his signal, his transmitter had a very sweet sound, and his keying was soulful, the sound of a Hallicrafters HT-32B - one of the finest sounds ever heard. The Drake radios had that sound also.
Milt touched many who worked him, and often he would follow up through the years with a personal radiogram to you.
A class act.
73 and I'm glad you've earned your "Solid Gold Vibroplex" - you certainly deserve it.
