I first met Steve in 1982 when I moved to O.S.U. in Columbus, OH. He invited me to the W8LT radio club and thus started a series of adventures in ham radio that I will long cherish. We strung wires from the tops of the flagpoles on the stadium for contest weekends. We operated the 160 contest from the O.S.U. radio telescope site taking advantage of an aluminum ground sheet the size of several football fields. We operated at KS8S multi-multi and a few field days, too. Steve was always enthusiastic and a motivator for the club, ham radio was pretty much his central interest. It seems that other things in his life "grew" out of some connection with radio. He did a lot for the club and inspired many others to find enjoyment in ham radio. To leave us at such a young age is a difficult tragedy that has much affected me and many others. RIP Steve, 73. Terry, K3JT
