Ted Burgis G6FB (G6FB)

Ted fell victim to Leukemia. He is remembered as my Best Man in 1984. RIP Ted om.

Edward BURGIS G6FB known to many hams all over the world for his skill with his trusty Vibroplexer. Ted and i met on the Citizen Band channel in 1980 and although there was a substantial age gap between us Ted and i became firm friends and he my mentor. He encouraged me to look carefully at the hobby of amateur radio. In 1981 i was to pass my RAE and obtain the call G6XCJ and Ted was so proud of the moment but he persuaded me to continue and work toward the morse test and four years later allowing for work schedules and much practice with his Vibroplexer i gained the call G0CJM. RIP Ted.

Ted G6FB was to me the most amazing of men. His telegraphy was without doubt a gift to us all and many just stopped to listen to his Vibrokeyer as he responded far and wide from his bungalow in Portchester, Hants. It was in his shack that i was to learn the art of using the Vibroplex and art it is indeed. Ted was my Best Man at my Third wedding and he was a true gift, i loved him as my father, he and his wife Mary always made my wife and me welcome and always but always i got to use his shack -thanks Ted, you are not forgotten RIP mate cuagn one day. Ted. G6XCJ & G0CJM.
