Ron, KZ5RO passed away October 13, 2003. Ron and I met in the former Canal Zone circa 1977, when I was looking for Multi-Single contest operators fro KZ5JM. Ron thoroughly enjoyed his first contest experience, and returned thru the years when his time permitted. After Vanity Licensing was introduced, Ron obtained his former Canal Zone call of KZ5RO.
Ron's firefighter profession took him from VA to the Canal Zone, where he rose to the rank of Chief of the Panama Canal Commssion Fire Departement, to Japan to Washington, DC. After retiring from Federal Service, Ron and his XYL Phyllis, found a farm home on 160 acres near Farmville, VA. After his antennas were installed, Ron became active in the Afrikanner Net.
A Fire Department Honor Guard presided at his Celebration and Thanksgiving Service on October 17, 2003 at Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, VA.
Internment: Virgina Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA.
Ron is survived by his wife Phyllis,
sisters Eleain Austin and Charlotte Krell, and brother David.

It was ALWAYS nice to hear the voice of KZ5RO.... He will be sadly missed by lots of people who he helped through the Afrikaner Net on 21.355...
We are ALL in the same queue...just seems as though the decent people arrive at the front first...
