John Daebelliehn (KC9YQ)
October 29, 2003
I'd like to pay a tribute to John, KC9YQ, a ham I first met 34 years ago.
John was novice, WN9BJC, in Moline, Il.
I operated 40 meter CW mobile. One evening, I answered his CQ, asked where he lived and drove right up to his house while we were in QSO. Over the years, we had a few QSO's and he eventually retired with his wife, Dawn,
KA9DEC, in Gassville, AR. His early passing, at 64, was quite a shock. I last saw him in 1991 and will really miss him. He was a great craftsman with
wood and loved to fish for muskies. The thing I will treasure the most is that he introduced me to upland bird hunting and a love for the outdoors. 73, old friend!
