Herbert Snell (W2FCH)
August 6, 1999
Herb passed away in the Central Suffolk
Hospital in Riverhead, NY on Long Island. He
was 86 and got his call in 1929 and never
changed it. He was 100 percent a CW man
and loved to use his old "Bat Key" on the
air. He would spend a lot of time just
"reading the mail" but if you were a friend
of his, in QSO he might jump in with his
"HI HI" to let you know he was around.
Herb is missed by everyone who knew him
either on the air or by those who weren't
hams. He loved to tell stories about the
old days and his mind was sharp and remembered every date. Herb Snell, great
ham, great guy.
