Joe Marlett (W5RYO)
?
Joe introduced me to ham radio in Kermit, Texas in 1951 and I got my general class license in that same year. He helped me install a mobile unit in my car and built me a small code Xceiver to use in my dormitory at Texas Tech. I built a DX-100 heathkit on Okinawa and Joe patched me through to my parents in Kermit. Joe was one in a million.

Like many others, Joe helped me get started in ham radio while in Kermit,Texas in 1959. He always opened his ham shack for friends to come over and use the "Big Rig"...DX-100. In my eyes, that was "the" station! Joe was always willing to lend a helping hand and is greatly missed...73s my friend!
