Raymond Forand (W1AZU)

July 1, 2000

Today July 28, 2004 marks the day W1AZU call sign officially expires. On July 1, 2000 Raymond O. Forand (W1AZU) passed on after a brief illness. I became a licensed HAM operator in April 2002 and, unfortunately, never had the opportunity to make contact with him on the airwaves. However I had the honorable experience with “Mr. Forand” as my Electrical Instructor in the late 70’s at Old Colony Vocational High School. Therefore today the fellowship of HAM operators around the world pay tribute to W1AZU who in his Career/Vocation taught many young minds the theory, practical applications, and respect of electricity. Thank you Mr. Forand.
