David Bird (VK5VC)

Oct. 19 2004

David (Birdy) was unfairly taken much too young on the 19th of October 2004 at the Waikerie Hospital, aged 54 years, after battling a rare form of liver cancer. He was my friend and mentor, both in Ham Radio, but also in life. He was a dedicated family man, husband to Marlene, father to Amy and Chelsea, step father to Robbie and Stevie. He had a fantastic sense of humour, was a brilliant story teller and a very good electronics technician. He loved Boat Anchors - he had many examples in his shack, most of them he had restored back to working. He was particularly fond of his old Hallicrafters gear. He will be sadly missed by many people who loved him. Especially the family who loved him so much. Rest in peace Birdy ol' mate.
