Hanspeter Nafzger (HB9AQZ)

March 21, 2000

Hanspeter Nafzger, HB9AQZ, passed away on March 21st in Zurich, Switzerland. He had apparently been suffering from lung cancer. Hans had retired in the late 1980's after along career as a flight engineer and navigator for Swissair, starting with DC-4's in the 1950's and ending his career on DC-10's.. Hans was a devoted supporter and user of the amateur satellites. A member of AMSAT-NA, AMSAT-UK and AMSAT-DL, he could regularly be found at their respective meetings, symposiums and colloquiums. He also spent time in the early1990's as a volunteer for the non-profit VITA and helped install satellite stations in Ireland and Pakistan. He was a constant source of encouragement and information, and will be missed by his friends worldwide...
