Gerald Surratt (W5IEW)

With a heavy heart I inform the ham community of the passing of Gerald Surrat W5IEW. A charter member of the Chickasaw Amateur Radio Association, ARRL Member and all around great friend and Elmer. Although I cannot name all of Geralds lifetime accomplishments I can say that Gerald and Miss Clara (his xyl of over 50 years) gave myself and my xyl more help and encouragement than we could ever hope to return. His love for amateur radio was undaunted throughout "Changes in rulemaking and laws" that have caused many heated discussions among the ham community. Not that he was passive by any means. Gerald would diplomatically let you know what he thought about an issue in a heartbeat, but he would always be able to "agree to disagree". I'm sure I could go on and on about my friend Gerald but I believe you get the picture! 73 "My Friend" and may there be ham radio and golf courses in Heaven. KM5WX

I will miss this guy. He was a great guy. We would rag chew for hours on 80 meters. He never could get that 5 iron right! Take care, Ger.
