Lyell Louttit (VK2BE (EX. VS6BE))
February 27, 2005
It is with a heavy haert and deep sorrow that I pass on the news on the passing of Lyell W. Louttit VK2BE (ex. VS6BE).
Many will remember Lyell as one of the early pioneers on 6 meter from VS6 (Hong Kong) from the 1960 and 70s.
He will always have a special place in our hearts. He was my mentor and close friend having introduced me into amateur radio and 6 meters.
Farewell dear friend and hope you find greener pastures.

I thought I hadn't heard from Lyell for quite some time, and it struck me that he might have died. So doing a Google brought me to this site and page.
I first met Lyell about 1973 whilst in Hong Kong. Many was the time that he and I sat on his flat balcony, overlooking the harbour, with me eating a good meal cooked by his Amah, usually Frankfurters, Ice Cream and Apple Pie plus a cold Coca Cola. The simple pleasures of life.
He and I got the first 2m SSB contact for VS6, not so hard to do with Lyell being on top of a mountain! He was always trying some new equipment, usually imported from Japan through his flight crew job.
I left VS6 in early '75, and it wasn't till the late 90's that I suddenly had an e-mail from him which made my day. We got back together ragchewing via VOIP over the net. Anyway, now I know what has happened.
regards, Mick, G8CCV, ex VS6CV, VP8ASQ
