Dan Thompson (KB8QZQ)

August 13, 2005

Dan could be found parked on his 'favorite' guard frequency of 7.138 MHZ. He loved CW and his favorite thing to do was help new hams right there in the old 'novice band'. He believed that a slow CW session was the best way to befriend someone, and then with eash subsequent QSO they would gain confidence. I learned as much from his approach to CW as I did his approach to people. Dan served on board an EC-47 a.k.a. "The Electric Gooney" (Tail number 15619) during the Viet Nam war. Sadly missed by wife Betty(KB8ZBW), children, grandchildren, and friends.
