From:
The Daily DX Vol. 9 No. 211 - November 4, 2005
W2CE (ex WN2DIN, WB2DIN), Robert Reed, passed away on October 30th.
Bob had been ill for sometime and in and out of the hospital over the
last few months. He was a very active DXer over the years and most
recently the moderator of DX-list a Yahoo DX mailing reflector. Bob
was 55 and is survived by a daughter and brother. RIP W2CE.

Bob was born in Brookly and spent the last number of years in New Jersey. An active radio enthusiast Bob was not only a ham but a full fledged radio geek who was active on many e-mail reflectors. His contributions to various scanning lists will be missed.

In 1962 at age 12 I got my first ticket, WN2DND. One of my first qso's was on 2 mtrs with another 12 year old, WN2DIN. I had a GOONIE BOX (a Gonset Two ...you know with that green eye?). Bob had one too. We were regulars after school for years.
For over 40 years Bob and I had hundreds of QSOs. He worked me from 5 countries, 3 states and was always loud. He stopped collecting QSLs years ago, but had worked them all.
When my dad (WA2UDV) was ill he made sure to pass by daily to check on him. During my trip to A5 when my dad's station was not good enough to work me, Bob brought him over and we QSO'd from his station.
He was a ham's ham. Always elmering new guys, always a fixture at Dayton. His last years were hard as his health diminished, but he ran the DX-List on Yahoo despite his troubles to the end.
His key is silent, but he'll be remembered by all of us.

I am sorry to hear that Bob Reed has passed away at the young age of 55. Back when he lived on Long Island we had many QSO's on 2 meters when I was WN2TJJ, running a Genave GTX-2 and a Ringo Ranger. I had visited his QTH several times and also got to meet his Dad also a ham, whose call I've forgotten.
What a smart "guy" Bob was, always had the answer to my many electronic questions.
RIP, Bob.

Very sad to hear of someone so young and talented passing away. I didn't know Bob but as a fellow ham I extend my sympathy to his family and to those close to him. God Bless you.
