Michael Duggan (KA1MAE)
07/08/05
Michael, my older brother, died at the early age of 50 years. He died suddenly .. unrelated to a long-term disability. While he was several years older than I, the two of us became hams together (I was in junior high then). Amateur radio was a significant part of our adult relationships ... and served as a great opportunity for rehabilitation and developing friendships. 73's my dear brother ... you are deeply missed. SK

I had a memorable QSO with Michael on 3 Aug 1988. I was on vacation at Bethany Beach, Del., with a small 10M AEA DX Handy that puts out about two watts on a good day. It was late at night, and I was in the bedroom of the cottage where we were staying. My XYL, I think, was in the other room talking with my aunt. Michael was in Thomaston, Maine, at the time. I can't recall if he answered my CQ, or if I called him, but I do remember that it was a very pleasant QSO. I had the DX Handy, and he was using an antenna in the attic. I remember that we both heard each other quite well and had a nice chat. At first he couldn't believe my handheld 10M rig. In his QSL card he said "DX Handy Sounds nice . . . like it." I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I guess I'm getting the news about three years after the fact, but I'll say a prayer for your family and that Michael rest in peace until the coming of the Lord. 73 Carl
