Hal Haley, SR. (W5JIJ)

QST, QST, QST, Attention all Amateur Radio Operators, This is to notify you that we have a silent key within our Livingston Ham Group. Harold (Hal) J. Haley,Sr., W5JIJ (General Class license), passed away Wednesday, January 24th at his KETX FM Radio Station. Hal has been owner/operator of the Radio Station since 1950, and he also owned and operated KETX AM, KETX TV and KLSN FM in Lufkin. Hal has been a ham radio operator for many many years and has donated his tower space, electricity and cooperation to the local Livingston area ham organization. Please stand by for announcements tonight between 7:00 and 7:30 PM on 147.040. Visitation will be at the Cochran Funeral Home Monday eve., 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Services will be at the Central Baptist Church 506 North Houston, Livingston at 10:00 AM with reception after the services. A spray will be sent in honor of Hal Haley from the local hams of the Livingston area. We would appreciate donations from all hams to cover this expense. Also in honor of Hal Haley and family we would like to have a large turn out at the services. God Bless this Silent Key and his family, Robert Herron - KD5UAD
