Bob was more than just an excellent operator and a "ham's ham".... he was a good friend. Although I only knew him for four short years, I cherish the friendship that developed. Bob was the realtor who helped me find my home... he knew what I was looking for and worked tirelessly to make it happen. Bob was one of the first to call with congratulations on the birth of my daughter, Kylie. I'll never forget the ARRL DX CW multiop's from W9MU with Bob, nor the McHenry County Wireless Association's Field Day efforts with him. I can still see him there, sitting in a lawn chair under the shade tree where we always set up the CW station, smiling to all and greeting everyone as if he'd known them for life. Most of the guys he did. He was one of the best.

I met Bob at a MCWA club meeting and we hit it off right then and there. I had not known Bob in his early years but we became fast friends and he would regularly show up at my shack for a little out of car dxing. He instigated much of the multi contesting we did and to say I learned a lot from Bob would be a very big understatement. Bob was a best friend and radio pal and he is sorely missed. Ham radio is not quiet as much fun without Bob around. He was a classic story teller, DX historian and was the only guy I ever met who could administer a little therapy with each qso. Bob always used to say "dx is eternal", well Bob I have news for you, so is the memory of a truly good friend and great Ham. 73 and good dx

Bob was a very friendly ham. He always livened up our local 2 meter roundtables with discourses on DX chasing and operating procedures. We were both alums of Motorola so we had plenty to talk about. We miss you Bob. Hope the bands are open 24 X 7 up there!
