William M. Miller, Jr. (K1IBR)
February 5, 2007
Hams in the New Bedford, MA area lost a great friend, mentor and brother when William M. Miller, Jr. suddenly and unexpectedly passed on recently.
In the 1960's Bill Miller worked at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the Apollo program that put a man on the moon. He received an award from NASA for a computer test system he designed. In 1995 he retired from Commonwealth Electric where he was Supervisor of the Radio-Electronic and Relay Engineer groups.
He was a member of the Utility Communications Council and Chairman of the New England Power Radio Service Committee. Mr. Miller had electronic design articles published in several journals.
Mr. Miller was a member and past president of the Southeastern Massachusetts Amateur Radio association, Inc. where he served as chairman of the Technical Committee for many years.
Bill was a friend to all and will be sorely missed.
