Dave Ranney (KT0R)
This has been a very sad week for the contesting community here in MN.
When I said CUL at FD, I thought it would be sooner than later. R.I.P. Dave. 73's from all your MWA freinds.

Dave always greeted me by name when I would call him in a contest, even though we only met once or twice many years ago. His enthusiasm and warmth will be missed.

Dave was a fine man,and a great ham. He visited my qth several times when I lived in MN...sometimes with his young son. He was enthusiatic and always had a smile. I was deeply saddened to learn of his way too young passing RIP my friend...73, Jeff, W0XV

I could always count on hearing KT0R in any contest, putting in a good signal from Minnesota. I will miss hearing that.

My friend Dave Ranney was an enthusiastic member of the Minnesota Wireless Association. If he wasn't one the air with a shack full of multi-operators, I would find him operating solo in many other contests. He loved contesting and would always greet his friends by name during a contest.
The memorial service room was filled to overflowing with a large turn-out of MWA members paying their final respects. Rev. Paul Bittner (WØAIH) officiated and many people delivered their memories of Dave with stories from his childhood through his final days with his wife and two sons.
The KTØR callsign has been assigned to the Midwest Contest Club with permission of his wife, Adrianne. This famous callsign is being held for the future transfer to a son, either who may become a licensed amateur radio operator in the future.
In the meantime, you will continue to hear KTØR active as MWA members activate the new contest club in contests.
73 my friend!
