Joe Infranca (W2LED)

When I received my HF ticket I jumped into my fathers QSO group. There was Walter,Richie, Joe my father Neil and myself from time to time. Time moved on and things changed as the group slowly fell apart. From restrictions at new homes to bad health. Joe (W2LED) still kept intouch with my Dad by phone as he had taken his antenna down while selling his home. Joe had two Kenwood 830s's he bought at the same time. One for the NY home and the other for his Vermont summer home. Joe liked being on the air. The vermont home was sold some years ago, so the second rig was in the attic. Joe was in the process of selling his NY home and wanted to down size the shack equipment. My Dad and I where looking for a good tube rig and Joe was willing to part with one. So off to Joe's home we went in early December. Its funny how meeting Joe for the first time was like meeting a friend you known for years. Ham radio just makes it that way. Joe is a great guy, a real Ham. He work in electronics for years. Starting out with RCA when they only had Five tube TV repairman in NY. My Dad and I spent over two hours in Joe's shack shooting the breeze. He showed use how to tune the rig before we left with it. Joe was to close on his NY home the second week of January and to settle elseware with his wife Annie. Joe passed away on new years day. Ham Radio and I will miss you Joe. God bless you and your family. Bill Holzmann KB2YTT
