Ivan K Hare SR (WN0JJU)

I really had a ball with one of my 1st Novice buddies on the air. Ivan lived in a small house in Waterloo Iowa. His shack was small, an outside building, probably like a large outhouse. Oh, yes, he did have an out house too. But he had his HT 37 and Drake 2 C set up out there, where he worked only cw on the Novice bands, 80 & 40 . But mostly 80 meters on 3710 khz. That's where you could find him. That's the crystal I had for my Johnson Ranger . (1974) CW was all hand sent with an old Radio Shack straight key. Ivan was a generous man, not having a whole lot in this life, and he was a spiritual man . Not only we kept daily morning skeds, but also letters and audio tapes were exchanged. Also had 2 or 3 visits down to his place, from central MN . You'll never see another man like Ivan on the bands again . I have many other stories. When he passed away in the nursing home, his call was WB0YXV, novice to the end . My present email is .
