My Uncle Chuck was responsible for getting me into HR 54 years ago. He was no longer a ham but had the call sign 8AJY--before there were prefixes and when Pittsburgh, PA was in the 8th district. He supposedly had some involvement in getting KDKA on the air.
I am embarrassed that I cannot remember when he died, but I can remember when he lived. He was a great elmer.
