LE Roy Vest (WD5GMA)

September 2nd 2002

My friend and Elmer past away September 2nd 2002, he was 86 years old. He is burred at the Fair Hill Cemetery in Cameron, OK . His call was WD5GMA A holder of the advanced class licensee. I was between jobs in 1983 so I had extra time and he was glad to offer his skills and knowledge. In his retirement years. To help me with my Novice ticket. LeRoy. did a lot of wood work. He made my new born son a wood wagon with rolling wheels just like a red rider except no nails or metal were used. All wood. I still have it to day and will have tell my dying day. Mr. Vest has company, another friend of mine Howard L Bitsko W5CFA is also burred in the same cemetery he was also a Advanced Class Ham. "May Jesus Christ Give them Rest".

What a great memorial, Doug. I never knew these gentlemen, but your memorial makes me wish that I had. Who among us doesn't need teachers, mentors and friends no matter how old we are....?
