Bonner Johnson (WA4YOB)

Mr. Johnson. That was his name. I was in high school and back then you just did not call an older person by their first name. He gave me my novice ticket, WN4JCY, and there were many nights spent in his garage where he'd have other hams over and we'd just talk. All that chrome Heath gear went to Freck Radio in North Carolina one day and he got new Drake and TenTec stuff. I'd never heard of TenTec. Some new company. I found out a few years ago that Mr. Johnson died ...and sadly, I was away...I had moved ..I was busy earning living. Gosh...those day back then...the 60's ..they were really was Ham Radio...and as were those great social get togethers at Mr. Johnson's place. I don't think I ever called him by his first name. Perhaps it finally time to do so .... so let me say ...Bonner... I sure do miss you being around. The world is a smaller place without you. 73 OM Paul K6PS, ex WN4JCY
