Dale Shimp (W9LOV)


April 20,2009


DALE SHIMP, 86, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009. Born in Missouri, he lived most of his life in Morton Grove, IL He moved to Spring Hill Florida in June of 1994. Dale was licensed for over 70 years, having started his radio interest at New Trier High School when he and his friend Charlton Heston (of movie fame) started a club for Ham Radio Operators Dale had many other interests that included: photography, motor homes, metal detectors, fishing and raising orchids. Beginning his professional career in the forties working for WLS/ABC Radio, he was a Broadcast Engineer until his retirement in 1987. He was also a retired Seargant in the Morton Grove Parks Police Department and a member of the Decalaque Masonic Lodge #160, Skokie, IL Dale leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Margit, daughter, Sandra, Son Michael and five grandchildren. Dale was my friend and my father-in-law. He will be deeply missed.
