Paul Beard (KF9GF)
Paul was a GREAT ham.
He was the begining of Ham radio for me.
I was in a Radio shack store one day and saw a note on the board about becomming a ham radio operator. On the note it said Call paul and his Home phone number.life has never been the same since that phone call. THANK YOU PAUL for a LIFETIME of SATISFACTION. I WILL MISS YOU! :-(

Paul was my friend, though we never met. I am sure there are many like me, who can make that statement. Paul is what ham radio stands for, to be an elmer, or just to set the example of how to operate on frequency. A true hero as a war-time veteran, I salute you. As a friend, I will never forget you. I first met Paul on the Rotten Apples group;Paul was getting ready to take over the fx 7.238 for the Timberwolves; We had a great rag chew for abt 15min.PAUL WAS LOOKING FOR A USED TS440/SATI told paul that I was using ine that I picked up from estate;mentioned that I had installed te filters and programed the rig for the SKwhen he purchased it.The rig had minimal usage at the time.Paul wanted to know if the radio was for sale, said yes and paul said the check was in mail. Long story short Paul had the rig b4 i had his check; He was pleased and my xyl was happy; was no more room in the shack.

Paul was never to busy or rushed to carry on a QSO with me. That's what impressed me about him, and his operating manner. He once called me at home, just to "Elmer" me. I will surely miss him.

Paul was an amazing person. I bought my first side-band radio from him--I got the "radio bug" soon after that and ended up getting my amateur radio license. I remember helping Paul learn the math for his Advanced license. That was the only time I "Elmered" him--the rest of the time he "Elmered" me. I imagine that in Heaven Paul is either in a QSO now, or arranging a great radio deal for some lucky person. Till we meet again Paul.....
